The City of Ekurhuleni publishes one schedule for its customer care centres: weekdays 08h00 to 16h00, opening later at 09h00 on Wednesdays. Weekends and public holidays are not service days. Other municipal facilities such as clinics and licensing offices keep their own hours.

Wednesdays open an hour later
The City of Ekurhuleni publishes one schedule covering its customer care centres, and the recurring exception is Wednesday. Centres open at 09h00 that day instead of 08h00, closing at 16h00 as usual.
This is the same pattern SARS uses for its branches, and it catches people out for the same reason: the rest of the week runs 08h00 to 16h00, so Wednesday is easy to forget.
Weekends and public holidays
Customer care centres operate on weekdays only. There is no Saturday or Sunday service, and public holidays follow the weekend pattern rather than the weekday one.
Because the centres close at 16h00, a visit needs to fit inside the working day. If you are travelling after work, you will not make it.
Know which service you need before you go
A customer care centre handles municipal accounts, billing queries, meter readings and service applications. Other municipal functions run from their own facilities with their own hours, including clinics, waste disposal sites and licensing offices.
Confirm that the centre handles your specific matter before travelling, particularly if it involves a licensing or health service rather than an account query.
Take everything with you
Municipal account and application matters generally require supporting documents, and a centre closing at 16h00 leaves no room to go home and return the same day. Check what is needed before you leave rather than after you arrive.
