Furniture buying takes longer than a closing time allows

A furniture purchase usually involves a credit application, a delivery arrangement or both, and neither is quick. Arriving half an hour before closing is rarely enough, even though the doors are open.

If your visit involves opening an account or arranging delivery, aim for the middle of the trading day rather than the end of it.

Saturday and Sunday trading

Saturday closing is typically early afternoon and Sunday is shorter again where the store trades at all. Both are set per store, and a store inside a shopping centre follows that centre’s weekend decision rather than a chain-wide rule.

Delivery and collection run on their own schedule

Delivery slots and collection cut-offs are separate from the store’s trading hours and are usually narrower. A store being open does not mean a delivery can still be booked for that day, and collections may stop earlier than the till.

Public holidays

Public holiday hours replace the regular schedule for that date, and furniture retailers more often close or shorten hours on public holidays than food retailers do.
