Home Affairs Call Centre Operating Hours

Service availability

Home Affairs Call Centre does not publish operating hours. We checked the official source and no schedule is given there, so there is nothing to show rather than something we have not found yet. Official contact details for Home Affairs Call Centre.

DHA's official ePermits contact page publishes the contact centre number (0800 601 190) and [email protected], and the dha.gov.za contacts directory lists offices, but neither publishes contact centre operating hours. The myhomeaffairsonline.dha.gov.za FAQ carries none either.

These are the hours for this service specifically. The host location may open earlier or close later.

Checked on 6 September 2026 against dha.gov.za, dha.gov.za, which publishes no schedule covering every branch. Hours can change at short notice, especially on public holidays. Confirm with the branch before travelling.

Home Affairs publishes the number, not the hours

The Department of Home Affairs contact centre is reachable on 0800 601 190 and at [email protected]. Both are published on the Department’s own ePermits contact page. What the Department does not publish anywhere on its official sites is the contact centre’s operating hours.

Times for this line circulate widely online. None of them trace back to an official Home Affairs page, so none are stated here.

The contact centre is not an office

The call centre and a Home Affairs office are different things with different schedules. An office has counter hours and a queue; the contact centre answers enquiries about applications, IDs, birth certificates and permits. Confirming one tells you nothing about the other.

If your question is about a specific office’s counter, the office’s own listing is the right place to look.

Two numbers, two purposes

Home Affairs publishes a separate head office number, +27 12 406 2500, with [email protected]. That reaches the Department’s headquarters in Pretoria rather than the public enquiries line, and is not the number to call about your own application.

Expect a queue on the public line

A single national toll-free number serving the whole country carries heavy volume. Early in the working day and immediately after public holidays are the worst times to call, and month-end is consistently busy. If the matter is not urgent, mid-morning midweek is the better attempt.

Where to check

The Department’s contact page carries the current contact centre number and email, and its contacts directory lists individual offices, provincial managers and bank branch offices.
