Fast Food Operating Hours

Fast food hours vary more than almost any other category on this site, because a single brand can run outlets on entirely different schedules. Two branches of the same chain in one city can close hours apart, and the trading hours often depend more on where the outlet sits than on whose name is above the door.

The same brand, different hours

Four things change the answer more than the brand does:

• Location type. An outlet inside a shopping centre is bound by the centre’s trading hours. A standalone or drive-through site on a main road is not, and often trades later.
• Drive-through versus the counter. Where an outlet has both, the drive-through frequently stays open after the dining area has closed, so the site can be serving while the doors are locked.
• Delivery. Ordering through a delivery app is a separate question from whether the outlet is open to walk into, and the delivery window can end earlier or later than the counter.
• Late-night trading. Some sites trade very late or around the clock, and these are the exception rather than the pattern, so confirm rather than assume.

Weekends and public holidays

Weekend hours are usually longer rather than shorter in this category, which is the reverse of most retail. Friday and Saturday nights are frequently the latest closing times of the week.

Public holidays are less predictable. Some outlets trade normally, some shorten hours, and outlets inside centres follow the centre’s decision for that day. Christmas Day is the most likely closure of the year, so check that one specifically rather than assuming a chain trades every day.

Check the outlet, not the brand

Because hours are set per outlet, a schedule found for one branch will not reliably describe another. Identify the exact outlet and its address first, then confirm that outlet’s hours with it directly or through its own maps listing, which is where late-night and public-holiday exceptions are normally kept current.

If the trip depends on it, phone the outlet. Late in the evening this is the only reliable way to confirm the kitchen is still serving, which can stop before the doors close.
