Tops does not publish one national schedule. Hours are set per branch, so a single set of times for the whole network would be wrong. Use the official locator for the exact branch you plan to visit. Tops branch locator.
TOPS is an official SPAR store type in spar.co.za's Store Finder (confirmed in the finder's own store-type list with SUPERSPAR, KWIKSPAR, EXPRESS, SAVEMOR and Pharmacy). SPAR publishes no national schedule for any format; hours are per store.
Checked on 6 September 2026 against spar.co.za, which publishes no schedule covering every branch. Hours can change at short notice, especially on public holidays. Confirm with the branch before travelling.
TOPS at SPAR is found through SPAR’s own store finder
TOPS at SPAR has no separate national website of its own. It appears as one of the official store types in SPAR’s Store Finder, alongside SUPERSPAR, KWIKSPAR, SPAR Express, SAVEMOR and SPAR Pharmacy. Filtering that finder to TOPS is the official route to a specific store.
SPAR publishes no national trading schedule for TOPS, so there is no single set of hours to state here. They are set per store.
tops.co.za is not TOPS at SPAR
The obvious domain is a trap. tops.co.za is a long-registered domain used for email only, with no connection to SPAR. Any hours found there would not be TOPS at SPAR’s. Go through spar.co.za instead.
Licensing sets the outer limit
A liquor outlet trades within the hours its licence permits, and licensing in South Africa is provincial rather than national. That places a legal ceiling on the trading day that differs between provinces, on top of whatever hours the individual store chooses to keep.
Sunday and public holiday trading is the part that varies most sharply.
The liquor store and the supermarket are separate
A TOPS shop attached to a SPAR is its own outlet. It commonly closes earlier than the supermarket beside it, so confirming the SPAR’s hours does not confirm the TOPS’s.
