Shoprite Holdings' official brand page confirms Shoprite LiquorShop: 700+ stores across South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, Lesotho and Namibia, sited adjacent to or near group supermarkets, plus Checkers LiquorShop and Shoprite Wholesale LiquorShop. No national schedule is published. Some stores offer click and collect and Mr D delivery.

Shoprite LiquorShop publishes no national schedule
Shoprite’s liquor stores trade as Shoprite LiquorShop. Shoprite Holdings confirms the format on its own brand page: more than 700 stores across South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, Lesotho and Namibia, positioned adjacent to or near the group’s supermarkets.
What the group does not publish is one schedule covering those stores. Hours are set per store, which is why no table appears above.
Liquor hours are capped by licence, and licensing is provincial
A South African liquor outlet trades within the hours its licence permits, and licensing is administered province by province rather than nationally. Two LiquorShops in different provinces can lawfully keep different hours, and neither is following a group rule.
Sunday and public holiday trading is where those rules diverge most.
The LiquorShop is not the supermarket
LiquorShops sit next to Shoprite and Checkers supermarkets but are separate outlets with separate licences. The liquor shop commonly closes earlier than the food store beside it, so confirming the supermarket’s hours tells you nothing reliable about the bottle store.
Three formats under one name
The group runs Shoprite LiquorShop, Checkers LiquorShop and Shoprite Wholesale LiquorShop. The wholesale format serves trade buyers at wholesale prices and is a different proposition from a LiquorShop attached to a supermarket, with different trading patterns.
Click and collect changes the deadline
A growing number of LiquorShop stores offer click and collect, and delivery through Mr D. Where that is available, the cut-off for placing an order matters more than the store’s closing time, and delivery of alcohol is bound by the same licensing restrictions as the counter.
