These are the national Home Affairs hours

The times above are the Department’s published schedule for offices open to the public, and they apply to Randburg as they do to every other office: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 15:30.

The standing exception is the last Wednesday of each month, when offices open at 09:00 instead of 08:00. Note that this is the last Wednesday only. Other South African public bodies open late every Wednesday, so check the date rather than applying a rule you know from elsewhere.

Arriving after lunch is a risk

Closing at 15:30 is earlier than most services, and queues are cut off before closing so that people already inside can be served. The practical arrival deadline is therefore earlier than the published closing time.

For anything involving biometrics, document verification or collection, a morning visit is materially more reliable than an afternoon one.

Confirm the office and the service before travelling

Not every Home Affairs service runs from every office, and some services are offered through participating bank branches rather than a Home Affairs office at all. Confirm that Randburg handles your specific matter before you go.

The Randburg office can be reached on 011 792 0192. Individual offices can also close for operational reasons on a given day even though the national schedule applies, so a call before travelling is worth the time.

Saturdays are announced, not scheduled

The published schedule covers weekdays. Home Affairs does periodically announce Saturday openings, sometimes across all offices, as part of specific campaigns or deadline periods. Those are announcements rather than a standing schedule, so treat Saturday as something to confirm against current notices rather than assume in either direction.
