Telecom Store Operating Hours
Network stores are franchised, so hours are per store
South Africa’s mobile networks sell through a mix of company-owned stores, franchised outlets and third-party dealers. There is no national schedule to publish, because the trading day is set by the individual store and, more often, by the shopping centre it sits in.
Every page in this section therefore points at the operator’s official store locator rather than stating one set of hours.
A store, a kiosk and a repair centre are different things
A full network store, a mall kiosk and an authorised repair centre carry different services and keep different hours. A kiosk can sell you a SIM but not process a contract upgrade or take in a handset for repair, and repair centres commonly close earlier and skip Sundays entirely.
Confirm the service you need is available at that location before travelling for it.
RICA needs the counter, not the app
Registering a SIM under RICA requires identity documents to be presented in person, so it depends on the store being open and staffed. This is one of the few telecom errands that cannot be moved online, which makes the store’s actual hours matter.
Most of it does not need a store at all
Airtime, data bundles, balance checks, contract queries and most upgrades are handled through the network’s app, USSD codes or its call centre. Those run outside store hours. Going to a store is worth it for a handset, a SIM swap, RICA or a repair.
Centre hours are the real constraint
Because most network stores are inside malls, the centre’s trading hours cap the store’s. Over Easter, Christmas and public holidays the centre’s schedule changes first and the store follows it.
